When I first moved here, I wished I had a Best Friend to show me around. It didn’t take me long to see the traditional tourist sites – the Louvre, the Musée D’Orsay, the Eiffel Tower – but I was much
more fascinated with the rest of the city. I loved discovering the restaurants, wine bars and “cavistes”, shops both famous and obscure, food markets, chocolate stores, flea markets, vintage couture stores and unusual boutiques.
If you’re longing to explore the neighborhoods of Paris, I can design an itinerary for you for a day or for as long as you’re here. You can find the museums and monuments in the guidebooks, but I’ll take you to places they don’t write about — and show you what people who live here do.
Tell me your interests: cooking, wine, shopping, antiques, beauty and fitness, chocolate, specialty stores, tennis, music, whatever else it might be. Or maybe you’d just like to learn about one neighborhood; people are newly interested in the 10th, the Canal St. Martin area; the 19th and 20th, where many ethnic restaurants and markets are found; and the 11th and 12th, where interesting places to eat and shop are springing up daily. I still love the historic Marais, with its unusual shops, narrow streets and Shoah Memorial; and shopping in the 1st, from the elegant Palais Royale to cooking stores jammed with things you’d never before known you need to cook a meal.
Best Friend for the Day
Sometimes when you don’t know you’re way around and you have limited time, it’s better to go with a friend who knows the way. Here’s an example: Walking with Donna
Half Day (4 hours)
195 euros – 1 – 4 people
Full Day (8 hours)
395 euros – 1 – 4 people
